I drilled four 3/8" holes in the top to let the air (and moisture) move up and out. I do find that the dehydrator runs a bit cooler than the dial says. There is enough room in there for two 1kg spools.

My dehydrator is a bit unusual in that it has a large "bucket" cover. I can stack two full size 2.2 G rolls in at once, along with a bunch of desiccant packets.

After 24 hours, I put the filament roll into a 1 or 2-gallon ZipLoc brand Double-Zipper bag (depending on the size of the spool) with a couple desiccant packets and a moisture indicating strip. Then, all the filament goes into a big plastic container with latch lid and more desiccant packets.

Their machine looks like a food dehydrator with custom trays.

I did my experiment at 50c ... would a slightly higher temp work better do you think? Also, I had the dryer upside down and it was blowing down into the pail. Would it be more effective the other way 'round, with a wee hole in the bottom of the pail for through, warm air flow?

I have been in contact with them randomly over the last few months to get a tester unit for review, but they have stopped responding to any emails.

Makes me wonder if they are still in business hmm

(Filament roll sitting on an empty yogurt container in a 4gallon bucket) .. started at 1236g and ended at 1228g. That's 8g of moisture in 10 hour. I have no idea how that stacks up against the big boys, but I think it will work for me.

Edit in: tried the nylon this morning and it isn't dry enough yet so I will but it back in the drier.

we find humor so easy thanks to 'modern technology  I watched an TV episode of Shark Tank last week and some guys where promoting a Cel phone dryer (similar solution to Filament dryer) they had a company design a small air tight box about shoe box size compartment with a low heat warmer and small vacuum pimp (I figure about $500 material max) they paid $60,000 for prototype an stated cost would drop to about $30,000 LMAO some people need to use brains like Edwin here to find a more reasonable cost way to do a job. ;^)

Thanks for the break from all the high tech low output of modern day news! we all needed it.
