I run Volcanos on all of my printers at .8mm. You have to increase the temperature to account for the flow volume. I currently print PLA at 250C (that's on 6 different printers) in order to get good flow and surface adhesion. Telltale sign is the part is brittle, meaning the temp is to low.

The problems you are having are from the Volcano. The main change aside from nozzle is going to be your retraction settings. I added screenshots of any crucial setting. You won't need all this info by any means, but a nice couple numbers to take a gander at.

Thanks guys.

Tin - the first thing I check is always structural (especially on a kit printer) - everything is solid and tight. the only change made was the installation of the Titan and Volcano. Prior to that change it was printing great.

I am reasonably certain that the issue is in my settings - due to the larger melt zone, & increased nozzle size (more volume extruded), I am just unsure about what I need to change.

Well heartless you know in this sport things just sometimes go sideways. I tried a print Monday night 2 hour print first layer just would not work.
Last night printed a different pat worked fine go figure.
being the first few layers are good then not so . check set stews and belts also look at extruder temp . Sometimes the first layer is set higher then drops 5 degrees .
You have a relatively new printer something may have shaken loose .
thee is a thing called instrument grade lock tight that may help, if thing are shaking loose.
Sure you will sort it out.
Tin

.6 on a Volcano is my go to set up and although I have had several Titans pass through my hands, I have yet to get the opportunity to use one. Customers come first and so I end up shipping them right back out. I am certain we can get you up and running and hopefully AZERATE will chime in here with proper settings. If not, you know how to reach me.

So I recently got the E3D Volcano with a 0.6mm nozzle and Titan extruder installed on my FT-5 and attempted my first print last night - it started out OK, but quickly went downhill

Firmware was updated for the Volcano and E Steps/mm were set - when I ask for 100mm, I get 100mm

What I am not sure about is temp range, max extrusion volume, and anything else I may need to adjust to get successful prints with this thing...

this was PLA set about 210-215C

as you can see, the first few layers look fine, but then...
