As mentioned 3d printer parts are readily available.

And there are many Mainland china dealers on e bay. 
So you need to make choices between low cost and quality purchases.  Buy too cheap and you will likely have issues and need to repurchase a few parts.

My suggestion is by a kit you can afford and assemble a kit .

for a kit of comparable size (actually, it has a larger build area) take a look at the Folgertech FT-5.

It comes with everything needed to build a working printer, and the price is very attractive for the size.
The downside is that the documentation is not the greatest.
The upside is, I have built one and it works pretty well - I can probably walk you through any issues you may come across.

Tin is right in asking if you have the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities to attempt something of this nature - even in kit form. And let's not forget about the tools required - a good soldering iron, a decent multi-meter, and various hand tools, and the ability to use them, are all required to build a printer.

not trying to discourage you from this - just want you to be realistic about it.

Hi guys was just looking online and found that there are open source files to print the Taz 6.0 and previous models.

This is actualy a faily common practice

the ultimaker
BCN  Sigma

all have the OS files available. 

I THINK you want to know is building your own taz a good idea.

Any 3d printer that is well build and well tuned will produce quality parts.
1 Do you have the Knowledge Skill ability to operate a 3d printer and print parts that look good and are strong.
2) do you have the KSA to purchase all the needed components.? 
3) Do you have the KSA to assemble the machine wire it and install the firmware. 
You need to be able to do this in a reasonable time frame and at less cost then the TAZ.
