That wiring is nearly bulletproof...I got mine way thick and I'm sure that 22+ gauge would be more than sufficient...I would say the original hotend setup was pretty good minus the acrylic parts, I've easily put 10KG+ through this single extuder w/o any problem, but that sounds atypical from a most end-users' result. (at first I kept clogging my nozzle w/ the warped bed, but glass and proper z-level made that a quick problem to solve.)

The other factor which I believe has helped my hotend life most was moving my thermistor up a couple mm towards the heat source for more of a reading in relation to what temp that core was vs the actual nozzle, making sure that thermistor was 100% out of contact with environmental air by adding a much wider and thicker layering of
Kapton, and PID tuning anytime I changed anything that could have altered the thermal aspects of the hotend... the staff just needed to pay more attention to where and how they were applying the thermistor and add PID auto-tune to to setup instructions once people got it into their location...at that point the nichrome wire version should last nearly forever.

I have a z-platform design with a single printed part and a couple short T-slotted Extrusions. (allowing for proper mounting of the qu-bd silcon, I really do like their redesign and it's simplicity...I would love to see their results as that's really what matters...I know my banding is pretty minimal atm, but the less mechanical problems FTW no matter what...I would be very happy with any real progress going toward solving any of the major problems that still exist.

Jeffreysanders, I managed to catch Sam in a chat and gave him the McMaster link for the continuous flex wire you had posted. He was very interested in it, and said their main priority right now is getting the extruder and hot end to be as reliable as possible. The Z is obviously important to them as well, but you can't get banding if you can't print. He said they are hoping to have the aluminum bed in the store in a month or so.

The third item looks like "New Heat Core Resistor" to me.

I'm probally blind lol, but I swear that tag says 2/27 -- The BBB whip sinks deep into the flesh it seems, regardless I'm very happy to see them actually working on solutions for the remaining faults the printer has.

It must be something to do with the heatbed. There is no way you could see the far leveling screw with the current resistor in place.
I did notice the cables to the heatbed for the resistor, thermisotr and z limit switch were in some sleeveing.

Also found this whilst rummaging on the original site.

Guess they didn't what that chap in the photo, who ever he is :-)

That would be the hinge for the tension arm. It might be quick release as well, there is that separate orange piece on the left that might have something to do with it.

Is that what looks like a knob on the lower right of the extruder? Maybe its a swing out hotend holder? Just an observation

think it could be heating element? I don't see the dip for the cartridge heater that is on my bed.

The new bed frame looks like a good spot for a tool holder. I bet those bridges would turn out a lot better with an extruder fan, less time for cleanup after printing.

... says the video editor I already tried unsharp mask in photoshop, it could say resistor, and it looks like it says new "metal" bed which is clearly aluminum.

Lets hope that's why they haven't shipped any SD3s for awhile, fixing the bed issues with the larger build platform.

It's also got a new extruder. The tag hanging from it says "testing new extruder + new ____ platform. New _____ _____"

I don't see how you'd level other than using the holes in the kapton tape, I rather like leveling from the bottom.

EDIT: I started typing my response and then got a call. See everyone else picked up on the extruder too. There's a mystery 3rd new thing somewhere on there that I can't read. Who can find it?
