If someone wants one of these printers, then you should look at the FlashForge Dremer. Priced almost identically, the structure also, but with dual extruder and warmed bed.

Whereby, seen for me, such a printer is good only for beginners. If you quickly encounter in the subject well incorporated is one of limits of these devices and the price is ebenfals salted.

Funny this should be here as I was just looking at one today.

I am in Canada and at out local Canadian Tire store (automotive/home furnishings/hardware/kitchen ) Here, the machone is just a few dollars away from $1500.00. You are correct, in that it looks cheap and the specifications are not all that impressive. I just recently purchased a Wanhao Duplicator I3, and for a machine that is less than half the price, bought in Canada, I have in my mind, a better machine.

A biggie for me was the price of their propitiatory filament. In the same store, on the same shelf, was their filament ... $39.99, for a .5kg roll. I buy my filament from another Canadian supplier for $29.99 for a 1kg roll. So, for what the equivalent for a kg of Dremel, I can get 21/2 times of quality filament.

I was basically looking for another, local, filament supplier, but it sure won't be that one. And, yes, we do kinda get hosed up here for some stuff.

Tom

There hasn't been much discussion on this printer, so I'd like to see what other people's thoughts are.
For those who haven't taken a gander, https://3dprinter.dremel.com

I've been running one for my day job on and off since the fall, and I'm kind of torn on it. I've had to do some basic repairs and upkeep, so I formed somewhat of an opinion. Would I buy one? Nope! But, for other users, especially just trying to break into 3D printing, this may be a good choice.
Pros:
* All metal hotend. I think they may use a Semetec like E3D since their PLA settings are very close to mine.
* There is a grub screw that holds the hotend into the mounting block which makes it easy to adjust your hotend height for proper blower duct alignment. The Fact that there are 3 M3 screws underneath the carriages that anchor said mounting block/fan makes it inconvenient for minor height adjustments, though the option is still there.
* The closest to "plug and play" I've come across. All I had to do was level the bed; even the belts were satisfactory.
* The frame/enclosure is very clean and can easy be converted to be tamper proof. This is a huge plus if you have inexperienced users messing around or even the occasional malevolent toddler.....I have both
* As hinted above, there is a nozzle blower already installed ant the height was already pretty much dialed in.
* A very clear and defined LCD screen displaying info and instructions including reloading filament, remaining job time, and full color display.
* Excellent quality hardware.
* Even the plugs around the extruder have been oriented to prevent confusion during teardown and re-assembly.
* Althou Dremel recommends PLA only, it is "possible to print with other materials, which brings me to the first fews points in the cons.

Cons:
* No heated bed. This makes printing ABS and PC difficult if not impossibe.
* They have a VERY small mounting hole for the spool, and injection molded bottom plate below the spool...some might call this the drop tray, and it means you can only run with their spools and filament unless you get a little creative, though it is not impossible.
* Their ultra closed sourced software makes it difficult for a user to break away toward say Repetier Host without going through quite a bit of filament to replicate the original quality. This is an important fact if you want to begin using home filaments, different materials, or brands as not only the diameter may change, but the max temp in firmware may be tested.
* No documentation on what board is used, and it is encased under the drop tray.
* There are two openings in the bottom drop tray making it a risk of dropping screws should you ever have to take the extruder or carriage apart. We are one screw down, but it still works fine with 2 out of 3.
* If you need to service the board in ANT way, be prepared to remove a minimun of a dozen screws. If you have a simple short, this is going to be a nightmare.
* Everything is cheaply designed injection molded. They are flimsy and look and feel like they will crack if you just look at them hard enough on a bad day. Most of us on Soliforum can complain about the stock Solidoodle quality for printed parts, but I would sooner trust a stock and uncalibrated Solidoodle for tough jobs over thease carriages and platform.
* The Buildtak-like surface that comes stock tears easily. The Dremel logo staring up at you is appealing and offers some sort of professionalism with branding, but the longevity forced us to change over to painter's tape.

Rant over.
If you are a maker who enjoys tweaking and getting to know the limitations of your machine inside and out, this will be a very disappointing printer. If, however, you are a newbie trying to get in on the fun, this is a VERY easy to use machine. The quality can be very good, and :almost: rival my best Solidoodle depending on the specific job.
I would like to see if anyone else has any experience and thoughts about Dremel's 3D adventure.
