I'm not sure what the problem is with providing access to legacy versions for licensed users. This seems like a simple thing that is being made complicated for no apparent reason.

I'm attaching the log file.

Thanks,
Joel

---------------------------------------

Hi Joel,

Thank you for your reply. Thank you again for contacting Simplify3D support.

- Thank you. Yes, I think I would like to speak with a manager regarding my issue. I am a licensed user of your software. I am already running version 2.2.2 x64 with great success. I have no need to change this setup at this time as everything works quite well and I am getting good results. I was not aware that it is Simplify3D's policy to not offer downloads of previous versions of their software. Quite honestly, in all my years as a 3D professional I have not encountered such a practice. If I was aware of this I would have been downloading every installer for every version that you have hosted since 2.2.2.

What is concerning for me as a Simplify3D user is that the company is more concerned with having me troubleshoot your most recent software release than you are with me having a deadline and needing to get work done. The fix is simple. Provide an FTP link where I can get the older versions of your software and installers or email it to me. Instead Simplify3D is insisting that I use the most recent version that you know has a bug with the automatic machine control. I can only assume that this is in the hopes that I will help you bugfix your release. This is a very arrogant position your company is taking since it completely disregards the customer in favor of Simplify3D. Can you please respect my time and provide me with the installer that I am asking for (2.2.2 x32 Windows). I really am at a loss at this point regarding my support experience with Simplify3D.

-Regards
Joel

I'm sure there is a different setup that will accommodate my needs. The issue for me is time. My setup is working perfectly on 2.2.2 right now. I just need to install it on my junker x32 laptop and in 5 minutes I will be up and running. As for licenses you are allowed up to 2 running versions whether they are x32 or x64. I'm currently running two installs one x64 and one x32 3.1.0

3.1.0 will not calibrate using the calibration wizard or the manual jog controls. I am running a Da Vinci 1.0 - FW 1.1.J If anyone can help me get calibration working with 3.1.0 that would be great. As for the suggested setups they sound great but require too much time.

So I just logged in to Simplify3ds website and Im able to download windows 32,64linux32,64, and macOS. That license is good for 2 concurrent installs and they can be deactivated and moved

2.2.2 isn't available anymore, but Ive moved to the latest and it works a whole lot better with da vinci comms. 3.0 kind of sucked compared to 2.2.2 but 3.1 is an improvement. I had 2.2.2 installed on a 64 bit and 32 bit os at the same time so Im not sure where Carl is getting his info

I have a similar setup to what you are trying to do, I use ms remote desktop on a junker xp machine to connect to my good desktop that does the slicing quick and a raspberry pi running usbanywhere to connect the da vinci printers over the network. I finally set up octoprint for the repetier printer too

If the idea is just to move the printer out to the garage, you might try a Raspberry Pi with Octoprint or similar to run the printer, then use your existing computer to slice and upload to the Pi. Cheaper than buying another license to S3D anyway, what a ridiculous policy.
