If the brushes are overheated, they will carbonize and fail early, resulting in reduced torque due to increased resistance. You can supply a higher voltage, but that will just result in even more heat so it isn't a long term solution.

I do have spare motors if you want to swap the motor itself - get in touch via the Filastruder contact form.

I've probably put over 50#+ of filament through my filastruder. Today when trying to do a batch of new PA746...the motor stopped in the middle of half a spool and gave a loud whiny pitch (something I don't ever remember it doing, even when its struggling). I've put some terrible stuff to try to extrude before, but again, never had this problem, even if the motor was grinding against a wall.

Tried to restart the process several times too but no go.

The motor itself still spins when I remove it from the shaft and stuff.

So my question is...do these things "die" ie lose torque over time? I "looks" like its still working, but starting it up, it seems kind a sluggish (but maybe thats my imagination). I mean it still spins, but when I reinstall it back, it stuggles for like 5secs, stops ang gives off a loud whine. I even tried to crank up my temperature, at a temp i know the PA746 flows like water, but still no go.

Is it time to upgrade to the new 2.0?
