I used to get occasional "Y" shifts, out of the blue. I put a fan on the board, and the problems went away. Then I switched from the original Sang to a RAMPS, with a fan, and I started getting the shift in "Y", and the occasional shift in "X".

I turned out that the steppers I bought were junk. Removed the original Palolus from the Sang, put them on the RAMPS board, and never looked back.

which way is it shifting ? X Y or Z ?

I had some issues with mine shifting on the Y axis, so I tightened the Y loop belt and that fixed it for a while. until the Y loop belt finally broke and had to be replaced.

all stock Solidoodle printers do that after becoming dirty or dry of lube on moving parts like carriage rods/bushings or grease gets stiff. need to wipe all old lube off and reapply, I even used a thinner oil like Teflon Gun oil to keep things slick. this needs done every couple months or about 100 hours printing which ever comes 1st. regular Maintenance for this type printer. or it causes motors to skip steps when friction is too much. you notice it after about 40-50 layers at first. main reason to mod those parts to full linear bearings instead of bushings

sorry about that. So if everything is tight connection wise and theres maybe a broken end stop wire would it be as simple as replacing the end stop?

carl_m1968 wrote:

shields1.as wrote:

It seems after 2 layers the printer wants to shift layers. I've checked and the nozzle isn't dragging and the e stops look like nothing is touching them. Just can't figure this one out.

If you have a loose or intermittent wire to an end stop the logic will see it as a trigger every time the wire opens.
