They still use STL, it is just converted to an X3G file instead of gcode. You cannot send M commands either unless your software can convert them to an X3G serial stream as well.</p>]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>Makerbot stores all the printer settings in a .json file&nbsp; then you load the stl file into Makerbot desktop position it how you want it on the bed and then export to file. it makes a .X3G file that is then copied to an SD card which is inserted into the printer to print<br />the file is sliced during the export. So I think the g code is&nbsp; incorporated into the X3G file.</p><p>when the computer is connected to print through (Makerbot Desktop) I think all the slicing and printer settings are loaded in realtime.</p>]]></description>

My guess though is he got some bad STL files and needs to run through through netfabb.</p>]]></description>
