]]> Sun, 10 Apr 2016 17:20:13 +0000 https://www.soliforum.com/post/120862/#p120862 <![CDATA[Re: Horrible Z Axis Grinding - Help?]]> https://www.soliforum.com/post/120202/#p120202 In the stepper for the z-axis, there is a nut that should hold the rod in place, it has two holes in it for a tightening tool.  I would suggest trying to tighten or loosen it.  It could be that it's too loose and not getting appropriate purchase or too tight and causing binding.  Another video that also shows what the top of the motor is doing could help diagnose this.
Another thought is there could be an issue with the anti-backlash that is causing binding. Grease it all up and see if it helps.

Also, if you reduce the travel speed, does it still grind?

I am able to reliably get it to make horrible noises by doing G1 Z150 then G1 Z10:

(this was after homing x, y, and z)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
