when I buy something I expect it to last until I no longer need it or my heirs get it. if that means buy antique then so beit.

something feels wrong about taking someone's work for free and selling it to someone else.

the optimist will say that glass is half full .
The pessimist will say the glass is half empty.
The engineer may say a smaller vessel is needed for full efficiency
the opportunist will grab the glass drink the beverage  and then may ask for more. 

It is a choice to respect or not respect others .
IMHO it is a symptom of the current buy cheap use and throw it away society. Few have an idea and appreciation for good design good craftsmanship and quality products. Grab it use it and toss it when not needed !!Who cares?

huh... the guy I was looking at has license listed on his thingiverse regular pages but he has started a couple months ago posting new models in his 'make' section with download link through thingiverse from an Amazon associated address site with no license listed on that make page. so how does that work??

you can simply ask him nicely to put your attribution on his amazon shop , as he was obliged to do it by the licence..

each time i do this for my own models, they do it without problem...

only one time, a user try to sell my models 2 times without attribution on 3dsha.re. i send them a DMCA takedown (yep.. it's easy a email...) and the model was removed... the second time, they closed the account..

one guy was a neighbor of mine and a coworker at a new job I moved there for and I put out the word at work I needed a dog house and my new job didnt pay much. this guy told me about a neighbor of ours that was moving and had a dog house for free, so I got another coworker to go with me in his pickup and get it. a year later dog was gone so I sold the Dog house for $20 to somebody. the guy that had told me about it a year earlier was very mad saying I should have split the $20 with him since he told me about it. LMAO can ya believe that? gee wiz there is just no pleasing some people. its not like I got rich off his invention. some people are jelous of anyone that makes any profit off anything they didnt when they could have. thats why I never tell anyone when asked how much I make in salary, sales, profits etc. only bad can result from it, no good. most things printed on 3D printers and sold will never make anyone rich or even self supporting income after paying utilities, materials, repairs, investment in tools, labor/time etc. it leaves very little profit to pay Royalties from or share.

Part of it is me giving back in the ways that I can to the community since I'm not innovating in the way that many of you are.  But something feels wrong about taking someone's work for free and selling it to someone else.

Interesting to read your thoughts on the subject.

as you use the 'share alike', they need to put any derivative or production , printed or digital with the same license as your original... aka "Creative Commons - Attribution - Share Alike

However, the chosen license doesn't require it. If a CC NC variant were chosen, then the prospective seller would need to negotiate a resale license with the designer, if they intend to operate legally.

I know a couple designers on Thingiverse that have worked with others selling their designs prints. most just want others to know their work and be noticed for it possibly for future consideration as in an artists portfolio for hire.

I know I would gladly give attribution and even a small % of profits to a couple Designers to promote their designs and likely would increase sales by doing so once people see their work.
