Points of clarification the E3d Lite6 is good up to 250 degrees.
The regular V6 can handle temps higher than 300 degrees if properly equipped with a thermal couple. Regular thermistors fail at just above 300 degrees but the V6 is just fine.

To add to hearless' comment, the ED3 lite while being a great economical hot end is still limited to 230c. and a Ed3 6 is limited to 300c with a thermistor. Higher temps are required by the high end high strength material such as colorfabb xt , and nylons.

If all you want need to print . is abs and pla a lite is plenty. Also the colorfab NGeen will print at the upper limit of most printers.
Tin

what the others have said...

the MAX temp is set low on stock SD hotends on purpose - to prevent damage to the PEEK liner.

If you want to increase it, it would be best to upgrade to a hotend that can handle it, such as E3D. Both the v6 and the lite6 (budget friendly) are great hotends.

I have a strange issue that is happening. I have an old SD3 and when I update my extruder temp to 225 C my machine will stop print in a 5-10 seconds. This has happened 5 times in a row. I know that the temp shown is off because of poor SD3 design with thermistor location but I find it strange of this happening so often.
