I think if you select any 100k thermistor that is in the marlin config .h list you should be fine. But may have to adjust your firmware. Going through the work of removing the hot end replacing the thermistor and adjusting firmware an ed3 upgrade may be the way to go.

The SD2 runs on 12v and heat cartridges can range from 20-40 watts. Any of them will work as long as they fit dimensionally. So you can measure the diameter and find one that'll fit. A word of caution though, the stock hot ends on a Solidoodle aren't exactly known for being the best. There's a good chance you'll fix the heater, only to find out the nozzle is clogged. If you are serious about 3D printing, the best advice I can offer is to buy an E3d hot end. The Lite6 is far superior to stock. There's also the full blown V6 all metal hot end that will allow printing of exotic materials like nylon.

Hello all,

I am new to 3d printing and a friend recently let me borrow his 3d printer, a solidoodle 2. He said that the extruder core thermistor was bad and he hadn't gotten around to replacing it. That being said, solidoodle wants $15 for the part but anywhere else they are $1-2, so I was wondering what size I need. I usually order from banggood.com so if there is one on there it would be helpful.
