It could be seen in the point cloud as well but became more visible after the mesh reconstruction was done.

Since installing the new left laser it is now not an issue. Still might not be 100% perfect but you have to look really hard to see it. Either the crisp new laser helped or my alignment is better. Thanks a lot the support here is great.

Bob

Hi Pirvan,

Thanks to your tips my shells at the top and bottom meet nicely, no double shell, and I am getting good scans. Maybe I'm getting too picky. I guess I'm having a hard time explaining what I mean. For example if I scan a cylinder where the scan from the left laser meets the scan from the left laser if looking at it from the top view they meet perfectly, both at the top of the cylinder and the bottom.

If I look at the scan from the front where the scans meet the right side is about 1mm higher. This is consistent from the top of the scan to the bottom. Both scans are the same vertical length overall. The right is just slightly higher both at the top and bottom. I am having a hard time capturing this in a picture.

I know that the camera must be perfectly vertical and not tipped at all forward or backwards when looking at the scanner from behind. What I was wondering is, again looking from behind the scanner, what effect turning the camera in the clockwise or counter clockwise would have. If the checker board calibration pattern was on the screen this would be changing how the vertical and horizontal red lines matched up to the lines on the checker board pattern. I attached a screen capture of a scan, not sure if you can tell from the picture but the right side is ever so slightly higher than the left. Thanks,

Bob

Hello, I am 99% positive my lasers are spot on where they intersect at the center of the platform and that they are exactly vertical. The cross hairs are exactly over each other and on the center of the blue line when a test is done. Both lasers are scanning exactly the same size. One last issue I have is the scan from the left laser is maybe 1mm higher than the scan from the right laser.

My question is could this be caused by the camera not being perfectly level in the horizontal plane. It does appear to be but I'm wonder if it was off a tiny bit if it could account for the slight difference in height between sides. If I tilt it slightly to the right will it lower the image captured on that side. Before I go adjusting I just want to know if this has the potential to be my problem. Thanks as always for any advice.

Bob
