+1 to everyone for RUMBA
The Printrboard is such a pain and it limits growth as a maker. The RUMBA allows for growth and is the easiest board to upgrade to IMO. Cheaper than RAMPS, and it can take a lot of abuse from me of all people. With history of frying 3 boards, that has to say something!

Please share your solutions when you have it working. We can add your firmware changes to the wiki for others. Wardjr and I both love the rumba so glad to see its continued use with the newer Solidoodles.

Just gona wait for RUMBA board. Had already had this as an intended update.

I bought 2 Workbench printers, one for me here in West Virginia and 1 for my son (known as chucks here on forum) in California.

He had leaky extruders and was replacing with ED3 V6 extruders when he somehow damaged his Workbench mother board, so we are replacing both with RUMBA boards. He flashes electronics for his job so he is going to get his Workbench fixed then send me the files. Easy, Peasy!!

It's possible and you could just remove the daughter board then flash with firmware set up for SD3 and change dimensions.
Under that daughter board is just a regular Printrboard. All that being said I agree with IronMan, wait for the Rumba to arrive.

IMHO this would require some major firmware/pinout changes; and take into account that the extruder driver firmware as well as the slicer programs are governed by mintemp extrusion control; by the time it all got figured out...you will have your RUMBA in hand...

First, I am new to the Soliforum.

I have a Workbench which uses a daughter board to controlthe heated bed and Z axis stepper motor.

Probably because I placed the printer on some rubber carpet underlay to cut down on noise and prevent sliding, the control board fan had no clearance under printer and when heating both extruders and bed the board burnt out.

I am a retired IBM tech and have proven it is bad.

Can anyone tell me how I can use the second extruder plug to drive the Z axis while I am waiting for my new Rumba control board? I can print OK without heated bed.
