Interesting, because I would think the David SLS-2 should give you very good scans.  I also use a structured light scanner, the Einscan 3D, and I think that's one of the best scanners for under $5K.  The difference between the David and the Einscan is the Einscan is self contained, and comes with a turntable, but the David scanner has a better camera which should result in higher details.

I'm not sure what you're trying to scan and what the resulting quality is, but the SLS-2 should be a good scanner.  Maybe your quality needs are higher than mine, I don't know. 

But let me ask this: is your FDM printer capable of reproducing the detail SLS-2 can provide?  Do you plan on getting a better printer to match the quality of the better scanner?

I got pretty good offer (i guess) to buy used Artec Eva Lite, the price is 40% lower than the new one, but nevertheless it's still very high for us.
We use David SLS-2 currently, but the resolution and quality of the scans does not satisfy us. I know that Eva lite doesn't capture color but we can handle it. Should I think about this proposal?
Any thoughts?

To be fair, any laser or structured light scanner will struggle with bright/shiny objects.
You need to coat them with a matt powder such as talc or chalk spray.
I have an Einscan-s SLS scanner and use chalk spray which just washes off once you're finished. The results with  and without the spray are like night and day.
That doesn't change the fact that the xyz scanner is junk though.

Waste of time and money.
Just confirming, as I have one. 
Accuracy/resolution & software entirely hopeless. 
Not even valuable for scanning heads.   
Not able to reliably scan bright or dull aluminium or most other stationary objects.

Horrid software. Horrid hardware.

A 20 year old steinbichler is infinitely more useful.

Would rather stare at the lights on the steinbichler for four hours (waiting for it to warm up) than further attempt any interaction with the Piece of Crap xyz scanner.  Put it back in box and sits there till.
