Wow, thanks for the help. I guess I would need the e3d, instructions on how to heat it up to 280 since solidoodle safety kicks in at 230, and the parts to attach the thing. For my own education, I still want to know how to run it without the motor and hot end attached, that way I have the option to turn it into a different 3 axis machine if I ever wanted to. Is that even possible?

don't apologize for your frustrations with SD, we've all been there. Basically if your extruder motor is functional then we can get you the parts you need no problem. If your E3d leaks you assembled it incorrectly. It needs to be heated to 280 and tightened at that temp. Then for ABS run at 230-245 and PLA will be about 20 degrees colder than that.
Basically what I am saying is you have no real costs ahead of you. Tell us what you need and someone will help.

So putting a jumper across it doesn't simulate an input in this case? I will try the marlin-dev firmware. Any other thoughts on how to try disabling directly from the motherboard? I did try the E3d, and it leaked, and kept clogging. Solidoodle has different heat settings that I think messed it up.

Since this would be hot end number 5, I am close to spending over half of what the solidoodle cost me 2 years ago, in repair parts. The belt wore out on the y-axis, so I converted it to direct drive. I don't know anyone that could print me the parts to fit the extruder in.

I want to save up repair costs and put them toward an upgrade. I'm saying anything bad about solidoodle, for the price and the time it came it, it has been a great machine. I just need to order one that will last longer this time.

Dry run doesn't always work like expected. First off your board is looking for input form the thermistor that isn't there. You might try updating to Marlin-Dev firmware I have had some luck with dry run working with that. The bigger question is why don't you just buy an E3d and have someone print you the parts you need to just fix your printer?

Hi Guys,
My solidoodle 2 extruder hot end finally broke beyond repair. The replacement hot end from their website costs too much (it's the 4th one I have had to buy), so I thought I would try turning into an x,y,z axis machine for other uses.

The trouble is, I don't know how to disable the error message I get through repetier host. I had to remove the extruder motor, and hot end completely, so it doesn't work when I do a dry run like I hoped it would.

Do I need to put jumpers on the pins where those things were on the board (it's a rev-e), or is there a gcode command I can use that will allow me to just do a dry run with the extuder motor and hot end unplugged? Thanks for the help, this is a great forum.
