My printer use to print pretty well at .1mm using the stock xyzware - surely the printer could replicate those results using Repetier and slic3r?

I only reduced the multiplier because I thought I was seeing over extrusion. It looks like all my speeds are way too high.

Totally agree with carl... I did get lucky and early research verified a short/limited production of printers with good parts (mine was delivered with spec's for running at 120mm/s). There was an article in CNET new early this year. They dialed that way down for follow-on production.

I ran at 4000 mm/s for a long time before dialing down to 2000 after rod bearing brackets broke (and, believe it or not, they are replacing the parts but they are on back order because of too many broken brackets.... LOL).

I would not use anything less than .15 for a layer height on a Da Vinci. They just can'tdo less reliably. I would also put my multiplier back to 1.00. If you need it lower then your steps per mm are not calibrated correctly on your extruder. You did not list your speed but I would not go over 25mm/s when even trying a .10 layer.

Hello All,

A while ago I posted about increasing the strength of prints. Some of the suggestions were to use the printer with repetier software as well as to use a filament other than the XYZ filament. I finally found the time to make those changes and am now using repetier with slic3r on my 1.0A, as well as excelfil filament.

I've been messing with settings and was able to get a smaller print working fairly well, however, as soon as I tried a taller print (coffee mug looking thing) all the issues appeared again. I've attached some pictures of the print, hopefully you can see that the side walls are fuzzy with little bits of filament hanging over the sides. There are also little bumps on the top layer.

Is this overextrusion?
