Replaced the heater and all is good. It only had <20 hours on it, and from other forums it seems relatively normal for e3D heaters. But all is good again!

pbcrazy wrote:

I'm currently running repetier firmware w/an e3D V6 (with their thermistor and heater). I tried printing something today but about 4 hours into the print the hotend's temp fell to ~40C and just stripped the filament (so it stopped extruder). I figured it was a fluke so I retried the print (but I opened the back and had a fan blowing on the mobo to see if it was maybe overheating) and it again was fine for ~20 minutes but then the same thing happened. I then resoldered the heater cables to see if maybe the connection was bad, and now it doesn't heat up at all. I used a hair dryer on it and the temp did rise, so I think the thermistor is ok, but I have tried heating the hotend from the onboard menu and my computer with no luck. Did my heater just randomly die or am I missing something?

if you have a meter that can measure resistance, disconnect the heater and measure across it at it's leads and see what it measures.
