After much searching and reading, I eventually came to that same conclusion. I'm in the process of converting to the Azteeg 3 Pro board. Got everything working, including the fans, but am now fine tuning the movement settings in the firmware.

The GCode fan header is not activated on that board. I believe you have to solder the pins in place, but honestly if you're doing something like this I would recommend just upgrading to a better board in the first place. RAMPS or something similar. The Printrboard is guaranteed to let you down, especially if you are using it for other purposes. Have a search though, this has been discussed.

I'm trying to convert my Solidoodle 4 so that I can use it as laser engraver/cutter as well as 3D printer. I got the laser kit from JTech Photonics. I set the machine up so that I can switch back and forth between 3D printing and the laser.

My problem is that the PrintrBoard fan output, which the laser uses to turn on and off, as well as set intensity, seems to be set to constant full on. This is a problem since the laser intensity is determined by this input.

I've tried sending gcode commands "M106 Sxxx", as well as "M107", but it makes not difference. The fans are always running at full speed.

I suspect that the firmware on the PrintrBoard is set to full output (S255) with no option to change it.

Has anyone experienced this and do you have any advice?

I do have all of the software for flashing the firmware, but I'm not sure which tab and which code to change to make the fan work correctly.

Thanks for any help!
