Calibration is definitely a pain on one of these. Not for the faint of heart, or the easily discouraged.
Lots and lots of repetition - check, home, check again...tweak firmware, re-flash firmware, check again... over and over until you get it right.

I can definitely see where putting springs under the bed would be a big help on these - much easier to make minor little tweaks.

Dont worry about it. Everything has worked out in the end, and I get to be mesmerized by the way the Kossel moves now. LOL
It really is a fascinating machine to watch - it moves so differently from what I am used to.

And the best part of the whole thing is, this little gem gets to be the star of my show tomorrow. Putting on a 3d printing demonstration at our local mall - should be interesting.

Thanks, Leghk.

still have a little bit of tweaking to do (working on it) and have discovered that the inductive sensor will not work with the mirror on the bed (it wont trigger and I am not giving up my glass!) so will probably go the springs under the bed route eventually. For now, It works! LOL and I am a very happy camper right now.

Thanks to both you and Carl for the assistance - even if you don't think you did much, every little bit helps - even if it is just encouragement.

Now that I have this one up and running, I will tinker with the Sintron version some more later and see if I can get it to function as well.

Actually, no, it doesnt 'explain the options' for when the 3 tower locations are different heights... in fact, that one says pretty much nothing about that particular aspect of tuning. it only covers how to get the actual build radius...

FWIW - this model does not use the servo switch, either, it has an inductive sensor - so things are a bit different in that arena as well (not that I have even attempted to use that yet)

the calibration guide from the Rev B google drive claims for the outer edges being off - all being either too high or too low:
     1. Increasing DELTA_SMOOTH_ROD_OFFSET lowers the hotend.
     2. Decreasing DELTA_SMOOTH_ROD_OFFSET raises the hotend.

When in fact, I found the opposite to be true.
I started out with a DELTA_SMOOTH_ROD_OFFSET of 197 - center was set, outer edges were all initially too high.

tried increasing the DELTA_SMOOTH_ROD_OFFSET, and it made things even higher...

decreasing DELTA_SMOOTH_ROD_OFFSET is what got me to where I am right now. DELTA_SMOOTH_ROD_OFFSET is currently set to 193.75 which makes one tower edge location perfect, one slightly too high, and one now slightly too low...

Because the "build" coordinates are based off of the "home" location, I am guessing that I need to adjust end-stops ever so slightly to get those edges corrected, and then rework the calibrations to get things leveled out..
I thought I had each tower offset measured & calibrated pretty well, but being off a fraction of a mm i guess can have a pretty big impact on where the hotend nozzle actually ends up...

OK, Thank you, Leghk.

I guess it really doesnt matter so much which is which, as long as things are plugged in correctly on the board with end-stops matching

So, I did put the motor connectors back the way they were originally, and changed only the directional lines in the firmware (was true, is now false) and it now homes upward to the end-stops correctly.

#define INVERT_X_DIR false // for Mendel set to false, for Orca set to true
#define INVERT_Y_DIR false // for Mendel set to true, for Orca set to false
#define INVERT_Z_DIR false // for Mendel set to false, for Orca set to true

I have been working through the calibration steps, and have the max height set now, as well as the radius distance, and am now about ready to try to figure out the "flatness" thing.

Just to identify everything (and this is all just as I built it, as Carl said above, deltas are all a little flexible on this):

Power supply is on a rail between Z (back tower) and Y (Front right). USB cable exits mine from the rail counterclockwise from the power supply, between Z and X (Front Left). Unused rail is the one I wanted to call "front" since it was unobstructed for a later LCD panel (and of course is between X and Y motors).

Hope that helps some.

Honestly I just have them labeled XYZ and plugged everything in respectively. Unlike a Cartesian printer the coordinates for a Delta are more like a cloud than straight lines that we are all used to. The Delta does not use XYZ in the same fashion. So it does not matter which is which as worse case your printed object will just print facing the opposite direction from your 3D preview.

For a Cartesian (box printer) it normally starts at home then moves a distance in X and a distance in Y and makes a line either along X or Y for a certain distance.

For a Delta it knows Home but that is not actually where is starts. It starts at the zero position you calibrate it for which you will understand what I mean when you get to that point. It then moves in a circular plane from that zero coordinate in an arc rather than a straight X or Y movement. Yes the line will look straight to you but in relation to the towers one of those line may be in plane between the towers neither in a an X or Y direction. So here you see how visualizing in XYZ as you are used to is kind of mute and pointless as there really is no front, back, left , or right on a delta. What I did was just got it all set up and moving as the software expects then made a print and oriented the 3D view in my software to match.
