Force India uses 3D Systems SLA printers & ultimaker.

Lotus is about to be taken over by Renault but they will probably keep up their partnership with 3D systems. Lotus also uses 3D Systems SLA printers & ultimaker.

formula one teams have been using 3d printers for quite some time, its only until recently that they are good enough to use in their scale wind tunnel models. The scale are pretty incredible pieces of engineering, they, at times make carbon pieces that deflect in the same way as the full scale parts. because weight is so key i dont think to many parts on final cars will be 3d printed, though getting a metal 3d printer at the track could be very useful for making spares and tweak for some parts on demand.

here is a more traditional mostly cf model from mercedes, and a largely printed model from a much less funded team, marussia.

It seems as though a few teams have partnered with 3D Systems to make models for testing. Caterham folded after 2014 though.

Force India uses 3D Systems SLA printers.

It will be really cool to see what they come up with to print actual F1 car parts.

in my experience with SLA it's probably not going to be the best material for this kind of application (kinda brittle)

Getting F1 into 3D printing would really boost the industry. The amount of money invested in R&D by each team is astounding. Red Bull Racing have discussed 3D printing parts for their cars before but I bet right now Horner is more worried about finding a PU for next year. It would be a shame to see 4 cars off the grid.

I wonder if teams use SLA parts or something similar for wind tunnel testing. Anyway, go HAAS F1!

There is an article on cnn.com about the McLaren F1 car facility where (among lots of other thing) they talk about the things they are looking to do with 3D printing. First get printed parts strong enough to use in cars, then second make it portable enough that they can print parts at the track :-).
