I use 1/4" polycarbonate sheet screwed to the aluminum with a layer of glue stick. Without glue stick, it won't release. It has a similar thermal expansion to abs, so it doesn't cause lifting do to shrinkage. I start the print at around 90c, and then down to 70c after the first layer. Needs to be secured well to prevent warping.

that glass should be fine, and if it breaks - well - it was cheap.
I use cheap mirror tiles cut to size on my printers simply because I already had them on hand. haven't broken one yet.

You really should get a glass plate that is the same size and put on top of the aluminum. Or put Kapton tape on the aluminum then use hairspray ir glue. Acetone goop is a last resort for any bed.

But never print directly to aluminium.

I am considering buying a Prusa printer this December and the bed that it comes with is a heated aluminum bed. I have always used a glass bed and I don't know what the lay out is for aluminum. When printing ABS does one use any type of adhesion? What about PLA, can you replace forgo the blue tape for the heated bed?
