So I monitored the temperature and didn't see any shift in temp. I replaced the nozzle neck and I am receiving a new nozzle today I might try. I lowered speeds and still have the same problems with any model I print. About an inch above the print I start to get lower extrusion amounts and this causes issues with the layer splits. It doesn't make sense that it is happening at a certain point.

Oh yea I calibrated my printer as well. For some reason I feel like the extrusion rate is low. But my s3d settings are a little higher than normal for extrusion rates.

.20 nozzle tip with .38 thickness and 1.10 multiplier
.10 layer height thickness.
15-20% infill
3 shells

I've never had to use a fan with PLA either so maybe layers aren't cooling? But I don't know why I would need a fan now?

Okay thanks. My fear was that there could be various issues. Looks like I'll have to burn through 1kg of filament to figure this out lol.

Could be temperature drop. Filament acts as a heatsink and some more so than others. Could be print speed at the temp you are trying to print at. Could be a partial clog. Could be bad filament. Even the best can mess up a batch.

I'm running an mk9 extruder with SS pla filament. I was printing fine for months and recently I've had layer issues. I printed a gargoyle and the first 100ish layers were fine. As the print got higher it seemed as though some layers were not extruding properly.
