Do you know a way to go about testing it? Or perhaps testing the heater individually to see if I can pinpoint that problem? It's possible the two problems aren't linked and while messing around with the wires I accidentally caused the LCD screen malfunction?

Anyone who has experience running Repetier and troubleshooting hardware malfunctions please chime in. Here's the scoop...

In June I flashed my 1.0a Da-Vinci with Luc's fantastic firmware V 0.92 without any problems. Since then I've had one notable problem: my heater not heating. I dug through the forums and tore up the connector on top and soldered the wires. No problems of that nature since then. Recently however, after a 4 hour print that went flawlessly I cleaned the bed and attempted to start another. After heating the bed the extruder failed to heat. My LCD screen displayed "printer decoupled" and made a sad sort of "bleh" noise. Digging through the forums I saw that it could be a number of things. So I began wiggling things around and probing with my multimeter. I began plugging in and un-plugging connectors and (without touching connectors to it) my LCD screen went completely blank. To be clear, it is not even lit up with the green background. Completely blank, the same as when the printer is off. When I press the buttons on the front of the printer it makes noises and leads me to believe the commands are working I just can't get a reading on the screen. I have torn apart the case and looked all through the flex cable for tears and can't find any. I've un-plugged and re-plugged both ends (to the motherboard and to the display board itself) and it's in the same condition. Working buttons, blank screen.

My most recent attempt at fixing it was to completely reflash the firmware. The reflash went just as smoothly as the first but to no avail. The LCD screen still has no life, the buttons still make noises leading me to assume I'm scrolling through the menu I can't see, and when I try to manually heat the extruder Repetier shows the temp not rising and the printer eventually starts to make the sad "bleh" noise as it did before.

I'm not sure where to proceed as far as troubleshooting on either front. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!
