This was the issue. A fan on the y motor cured it. I appreciate your and everyone elses advice greatly

I'd clean and lube the rods, check the belts for rubbing, realign and tension them all, and at the very end readjust Vref.

If you still have issues, it might be time for linear ball bearings and/or direct-drive y mod.

shifting problems on sd3

I'm just starting to have problems with shifting on my sd3. I've tried abs and pla and both tend to have the same problem. Bed is leveled and extrusion rate is correct. Could this be the y motor going out missing a step?
