Unless you have a google branded Nexus device, you are highly unlikely to get android updates. No one wants to be bothered. Google tried to get some industry wide initiative going for regular updates, and had lots of people sign up with great fanfare, but actual updates to non-Nexus devices are still pretty rare (they have happened sometimes). It will be interesting to see if the new Moto phones get updates since google owns them now.

What is your Android version?  The app takes Android 4.0 and up.

Does anyone have the APK file for it?  It shows up in the google play store on my Note 2 but will not show up on my Toshiba Thrive tablet.  I don't really want to tie up my phone to print... if the app really works out.

that would be ridiculous. Ridiculously awesome! I am sure my earlier prints would trip the auto stop even when things when "right".

Of course I don't need to print from a droid, I want to.

rPi still needs a power outlet and a wifi dongle.  A droid is a pocket based fully contained solution.
