How odd they would have two different models aside from the wood versus metal. Mine is all metal and just has a small slot on the right side that you put an SDcard in. That card has a few sample files including the filament holder that fit on the back and a copy of Makerware and ReplicatorG. No USB stick is required for mine or came with it. Mine is an exact copy of a FlashForge Creator Dual but made by CTC and is all Black and metal except for the panel that covers the controller board on the bottom. I got it for $640 which have now gone up to $900.

Which Model of CTC printer do you have ?
Our CTC only has the SD slot up front and a USB-cable port at rear.
it's model # is BK-05024 , ( type in my Avatar picture)

mine has a second USB stick that plugs into the printer its self just below the SD card slot.
got mine off of ebay, it showed up missing parts both the fans have broken blades, when it did work when it homed it would not touch the stop sensor, and would cause the carriage to chatter. instead of mounting the switch so that it is right all the time they just slid it under some hold downs, after figuring that out, it worked for a couple prints but have to continually adjust that stop point, so that it will home correctly.

If you are talking about the SDcard that plugs in behind the buttons, there is nothing on it the printer needs to operate aside from the software that you install on you computer. The printer would work without the card even in it just by using the software on your pc and having it connected by the USB cable. The card is used for offline printing when you dont want the computer to be tied up during the print process. It sounds to me like a board issue if it will not even print one of the sample files on the SDcard. You have two options really. Get on them and keep on them till the send you a new board. Or break down and buy one from Flashforge.com which is a clone of the CYc and a closer match than the Makerbot. That board is 180 bucks however.

I just received mine last week to find out it will not connect to any software regardless of what I use. The company I bought mine from called CTC PRINTERS are idiots. I emailed them with the issue and they tell me nothing is wrong with my board. I just need to use a computer running XP. Yep you heard right. They tell me I need to use an obsolete OS. I write back asking if they realize how dumb that sounds and if I can just RMA the board and they can ship me a new one. They then respond with again use windows xp as there is nothing wrong with the board. XP had correct protocols. They then offered me a $20 dollar refund for my trouble.

At this point I am just going to get s RUMBA board and run it with MARLIN firmware so I can use any program and OS to run it.

nothing moves, z or the x axis or the y. the lcd screen shows all the function and i can select them but nothing happens as far as the printer itself. The sensors will light if i push on them with my finger but nothing from the printer.

it acts like when i first unboxed it a week ago, and did not know to have the USB drive in it to make it work. I assumed that is what is wrong with it now some how the usb card failed or it got erased.

i was hoping someone could make a copy and send it to me from there CTC printer, what i have read in several different forums, the customer service sucks and i may not get anything out of it. If i have to i have 60 days to box the POS back up and send it back hopefully get anew one or my money back. but would like to give it a chance before I go thru that

When powered up does it show anything on the LCD. When you move the head to the back left corner do the two end sensors light up green?

yes it wont print anything from the card and it wont home. have tried cura, makerbot and the replicator program it came with and nothing just sits there. tried running the set up to level the plate and nothing. and it wont print thru the cable either

So from the LCD when you select utilities and HOME AXES it won't home? What software are you using? Have you put a X3G file or STL on the SDcard and tried printing it? Mine has an issue connecting through USB but works great on the CARD?

Are you not able to select level bed from the LCD either?

HELP!1 cant get them ass over there to return an email or anything! does anyone have a usb print card for the ctc dual? that seems to be the problem, it shows that its printing but it wont do anything, the extruders heat up but the x y or the plate do not move. cant do the home scrip, cant level plate basically cant do anything.

in a total bind need help
yes i am a novice at this be kind!
