I had that in my hot end replacement guide and it is absolutely essential. Now an 11mm spanner fits on the PEEK and a 10mm spanner on the nozzle. Comes undone easily every time.
In regards to the original post, I found the videos really interesting. I would love to know what laser cutter he is using. Most need an industrial setting but that looks like it might be on the limit of what you could run at home/in the garage.
I have just about finished designing the mk4 extruder that has support for quick hot end changes. The PEEK barrel with heater block and nozzle attached slips out the front without anything else being removed. I will post to here/Thingiverse this week.

When you post this could you post the working file as well? I made one that slides out the bottom, but it's giving me issues. I'd like to try out your solution but I would need to alter it to fit with my bowden tube setup.

I think a simple mod to the Peek would be to grind a flat spot on each side of the lower portion of the peek so a wrench would hold it. That way you could turn the hot end out of the peek to clean it easier while the peek is installed in the Jigsaw. Other people posted methods of holding the peek tight with a screw driver against the wood so it will not turn. It would be easy to stick a wrench in the jigsaw opening on the flat sides of the peek to grip it if the flats existed.

That is very similar to my idea for a ziffable (like a zif chip socket) hot end. I like the approach he took to make it happen.

I like the way the hotend slides down, so it doesn't need to be trapped by unmelted filament if it is being removed due to no longer heating up.

Stock SD2 slides into acryllic jigsaw, why would it be any worse than that. I'm not suggesting wood but if you wedge it up against a top surface you should repeat unless you're doing it 100 times.

Edit: I agree steel / alum would be better but I'm making the case that this isn't worse than what we have now.

If I´m even gonna think about a setup like this without having to re-calibrate everything, the hotend should be sliding on some kind of meta l/ aluminium rods or rails to make sure it gets in the exact right position...

Yeah, I was thinking about something like this, a modification from the jigsaw replacement MK3, that allowed for tool-free changes. Would be cool to see!

This could be incorporated into the next MK# design to have quick release hot end. Start it at the 6:18 mark or so and watch the key that he slips out to release the hotend.

This is a three part series which is actually very interesting to watch.
