it is actually staying fairly cool so far - barely got lukewarm after 3 hours of use, but yeah, will be keeping an eye on that for sure. The SD4 used to get so hot you couldn't hardly touch it!

scaled the print up to 1.5 times its normal size to give the printer a good workout - lots of angles, a little fill, roughly half the print bed size... have run 2 at that size back to back with no skips/jumps. Only issue I am seeing is a little stringing & some oozing...

scaled it up to twice normal size and running that now - nearly fills the print bed.

-Filament getting tangled
-Overextrusion leaves a blob that knocks the extruder out of alignment
-My wire bundle got caught in the z-end stop and pulled on the carriage
-Carriage tries to travel past the end of the bed and binds up

In the end, anything that makes the carriage skip.

Could be that at too low a vref it couldn't handle the additional torque from the belt tensioner. makes sense.

yup, that is the theory I am going with - for now. lol

I did add the x belt tensioner last night, ran a smaller print this morning with no problem, so figured I would try something larger... and here we are, lol

will see about tweaking the voltage up a little and see if that helps things.

just checked voltage for that motor - powered up but at rest it is 0.077 - thinking too low? (4988 steppers at 1/16 stepping)
When we first got this one running, it was running rather hot - turned it down, then slowly increased until it moved reliably with a bit of extra tension on the belt. has been running nice and cool since.

motor is 2.6kg/cm (36oz/in) torque rating if that helps any (i have no clue how to calculate the correct voltage - the formulas are a bit more than I understand)

I wondered about it maybe inadvertently bumping the endstop, but after looking at things (location of parts on the bed), I dont think that was it...print head should never have been closer than at least an inch away... the jump was nearly 60mm (2-1/4")...

All connections are nice and snug as well.

Your motors need to be set at about .150 to .250. .077 is very low.

As for the endstop it could be an intermittent connection. With the machine idle move the head away and jiggle the wires and see if the status light changes state on the endstop.

As the title says - had a huge shift to the right on a print - larger piece.

This is on the new Folgertech 2020 Prusa running on a Ramps 1.4 board that is new to us. X end stop is to the left side, the shift was to the right, moved about 3/4s of the print on starting the second layer... see pic...

Looking for ideas on what may have caused this?

What do you have your motor voltage set to? It could also be an issue with the endstop connection. If it get interrupted the logic sees this as an endstop hit and that will be your new start position for that axis, thus shifting everything in relation to the point at which the hit occurs.
