You can get Texas Instruments DLP controller chips from digikey. What you need in addition to the chip, I have no idea :-).

Well, a board to make it all work together. The dlp chip, dlp controller chip, FPGA chipr for fast data transfer and stuff for HDMI/USB. Not simple to make yourself at all, even if you're an electronic engineer.

Not really, SLA printers like Peachy use a laser beam and two mirrors attached to motors for positioning the single thin beam in the X and Y axis.

Doh!  I remembered the moving mirror part and forgot that it is reflecting laser light.

I think if there were boards for sale for controlling DLP micromirrors directly or boards for modding a video projector to display black and white 1 bit frames instead sold by people who make DLP 3d printers it could really come in handy for this interesting but non-3d printing related project:

The issue with the projectors is you can't use them straight for DLP printing off the shelf no matter what electronic mod you do. You also have to remove any all filters between the lamp, the DLP chip, and the lens. Otherwise the UV light will be blocked and filtered. Its not about color or black and white. Its about getting the most UV light possible.

Again, this isn't for a 3d printer but the question is about something possibly used in some 3d printers which doesn't exist anywhere else (at a somewhat affordable price)
