I find it writes much better Gcode for situations like this. Search for Ian Johnson's kisslicer settings (to set up the Solidoodle). Kisslicer let's you set a skin thickness that makes sure there is solid plastic at the set distance from all surfaces, and it will only fill solid where it needs to for that skin. I have found that skein forge will fill entire layers even if only some of that layer needs to be filled to get a consistent wall thickness.

FYI, I already tried editing the gcode.  Seems it doesn't take even though I save it.  Not sure why.  If it would save and work, it's easy to add more top layers and up the fill lines in gcode.  Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?  (I'm def a newbie at the solidoodle, but I have to say, I'm learning a lot, and enjoying the fun along the way.
