In this case I exported a STL from M&F and used it. I've also used the OBJ format, which seems very similar to STL for things I've wanted to do (I usually don't care much about color, just shape). Here's everything I have written up about the gadget I just made:

what file format do you use to import the file from the Matter & form scanner ? stl or another point cloud format ? can you give me the full method ? the original scanner software is not as good as i want to make the stl from the point cloud (even if the last version is a lot better than the previous one)..

I just used meshmixer to convert the hollow .STL file the Matter and Form scanner produces to a solid one that openscad is willing to work with. Took me a long time to determine that was my problem, but meshmixer worked great once I figured out what I needed to do.

if you want to do your own 3d print object or just fix your objects..
