1 test part looked about 90% right.  I compared my config to the da vinci repetier config and saw my extruder # was low.  I changed it and the current part is looking better.  I'll post pics of it later compared to the same part on a factory da vinci 2.0

I got a test print done using repetier host and slicer.  It was rough

I redid it in simply3d and it turned out great until about 2/3 of the way through it reset the program.  I'm not sure why, but since my printers are in a different room I'm using a laptop, remote desktop, and XYZhub so maybe the serial dropped out for a second and caused it to reset?  I know arduinos do some odd stuff when the serial is reconnected.

The LCD with SD card reader should be here tomorrow.  I think I can modify the post settings in simply3d to use the m codes to write and execute off the SD reader, then it should be as da vinci like as I want. 

The part from simply3d was created using the da vinci 1.0 post, and other than having the Z axis off from having to manually set it, and the steppers wired backwards mirroring the part, I'm almost ready to call it a success.

I did switch back to the da vinci extruder.  Too many variables.  I also went back to 1/16 microstepping.  Repetier did not like the 1/8.  The steps per mm were way off at times, then reverted to 1/10 scale. 

I can't get any more good data on this until the llimit switches are up and the offline printing is there.   The XYZhub is great, but for real time stuff I don't trust it.  I was not able to program the arduino remotely from something timing out.

Could you attach your version of Repetier? I cannot get mine to verify successfully.

after sleeping on it maybe the marlin problem is jerk is too high?  i know ive seen that as an option in one of the configs, but im commited to getting rep working.

Well i was not having much luck getting Rep configured. If you have it almost working would you mind sharing your copy with me? It might be the answer to my issue.

SD card is a step backwards from the high speed USB that the da vinci had out of the box.

Have you printed from SDcard? There is no difference in speed other than your settings. The rate at which the data is fed to the buffer is actually faster with an SDcard. I'm not sure what exactly you are basing your comparison on. But it is wrong or the machine you saw this comparison on is setup wrong.

No one said you had to swap out the boards, I had to due to my extruder driver putting out too much current with no way to adjust it. I am also figuring out how to make the board work for my needs. if it is not meeting your needs then as you said go back to another 1.0 if you have the cash. For me it was a one way decision and I have no regrets. My machine is running again and is 100 times quieter than it was and the speed is minor to me.

so I'm about ready to cut my losses and just pick up another 1.0 and part this project out.

RAMPS on a da vinci is a bust.  You lose off line printing capabilities,  you have to print slower, and it jams all the time

My RAMPS works with an SD card with no problems and no PC attached. Just pop the card into the LCD panel and it shows s list of yhe gcode foles on the card. Scroll to the one you want, press the knob and it starts heating.

As for jamming, I did have that issue with Shaxon Pink. But once I slowed to 20mm/s at 220c I no longer had jams. I am still trying yo figure out the rason fo having to go slower. I am beginning to think it may be the difference in processing speed  between the mega and due. Its possible that the speed the speed the stock board prints the mega cant run the extruder that fast and it skips steps causing the porous infill and under extrusion I was getting.  For me speed is not a requirement so I live with it running slower. I am actually used to such speeds as my Evolution did about the same.

If you dont have an LCD, there is an add on sdcard port you can buy that attaches directly to the board but then you will need access to the board all the time or an extension cable.

I don't think you have to change the steps per mm for a microstep change.  I noticed it was thin even at 1/16.

well I ordered the LCD and end stops last night.  No tracking # 24 hours later so I have my doubts that I'll get it any time soon.

Right now its working as long as I don't do any homing and manually position the nozzle before starting

The extruder clicks and stops feeding filament a few minutes in to the print.   I swapped the stock hot end for the pico B3, but I think its jamming so I may try out a different brand of hot end.  Its the same extruder gears and feed speeds that were working fine with the da vinci stuff.  This is happening on ABS, PLA, and PET.

I was having the same issue although I have yet to change my hotend. It is still stock. I had to lower my print speed to 20 and set extruder temp to 220 and bed to 90. Once I did that it is prunting like a champ. I am not sure what the difference is between the RAMPS and the stock  board as the stock board can print fine ar 50 to 60mm/s. The only real difference may be the stock board was set for 1/8 microstepping as far as I could tell while the RAMPS is set for 1/16. That is the only real difference. I may try setting the ramps up for 1/8. The change in firmware is easy, just half or was it double your steps per mm?
