sorry, I really should have mentioned that. The only thing I can think of is to reduce the temperature. I can't image a fan would do much to cool the area behind the acrylic extruder assembly. I can also put on an mk5 assembly then use a directed fan to cool the filament since the mk5 is fairly open

Oh and also, the producer recommends Print Temperature: 175 - 200º C (http://www.robotshop.com/en/white-pla-1 … ifications) currently I'm setting my RH to 185. Maybe I'll try 175. At 185 it seems to leak a little on its own

No clicks from extruder.

the stock fan on my SD2 seems to be fine. I just cant think of a way of cooling the area behind the acrylic where the filament meets the extruder gears (sorry I don't know the names for things)

You should have a cooling fan on the extruder above the hot-end to keep things from overheating in that area. the stock SD4 fans are only good for a few months, and once they seize up you'll get awful prints.

The other (small, cheap, low-lifetime) fans are also important, keeping the steppers from overheating, keeping the controller board cool, etc, so keep an eye on them all and make sure they don't stall.

I've got some http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6835104004 on order (price drop on 5 is significant) on order, so I should know in a year or so how their lifetime is. 8*)
