Hi used to Use Deans.. but have since changed to Bullet Plugs as I have a few heads and had more of those then spare deans laying around.

I used to have that problem too, so I used butt connectors (I'm not really good at soldering)...running like a champ..!!

I just got a thin zip tie and run between the wires on each side of the connector and around it. Have never had an issue and I have a second generation 1.0 with the black connector which is the one known to be bad.

Thanks. I expect I'll be doing the soldering within a few days/weeks, at the next 0011 failure!

If you solder the joint, you should still have enough play to remove the extruder assembly up to on top of the printer case.

I was able to do the optical sensor mod without cutting my wires a few days ago.

No white is the heater wire and the black two wires are thermistor. Your solution is depending on what your problem is. What is the room temp of your extruder, it should be anything above 10C If it says 10C your thermistor is shot. If your room temp of extruder is anything other than 10C its your heater wire. You need to find out where the loose connection is. Soldering is not totally permanent. You can just cut off the soldered joint and splice new wire to connect anything again.

I was going to do the solder job until I noticed the white connector was new.

Does soldering mean it is hard to take out the extruder head?

Anyway, I've now promised myself to solder when it next fails, hope it's ok for a few more prints...

Scuse my ignorance, that white textile covered cable is the thermistor, not the heater coil?

You can buy a thermistor 100k cable with teflon insulating online for like 5$ Might be smart to pick one up. The small cable the thermistor uses is hard to solder.

My printer had the black connector. I have about 300 hours on my machine now. A few weeks ago, I started getting the 0011 error which, at the beginning, I was able to solve by wiggling the connector or unplugging and replugging it.

It eventually failed completely and I ended up soldering the wires together. Your connector, even though it may be a revised one that XYZ installed to mitigate the issue, is probably failing as well.

I would suggest that you pre-empt further issues by installing a more robust connector or soldering the wires. It's a real bummer to have your six hour print fail when your extruder suddenly gets cold near the end of the job...

I had an issue 0011 when I tried to remove the cartridge. I'd previously seen this video about how to fix it:

but I noticed that the connector in the video is not the same as my one. I bought my DaVinci in Jan 2015, the video is dated Jan 2015, but maybe they've already changed the connector to a higher quality one?

The smaller image is from the video...

...my connector is white and seems a different shape. So should I remove it and solder the wires together or not?

I'm having doubts about the soldering because as I was probling the two connectors on the side of the extruder it started working again...

...which has happened to me before. So could it be a bad connection in the side connectors, or wiggling the white connector made it work again.
