Right near the top of the configuration.h tab you will see the following.

So you change the first line based on your machine using the options after //.
Same thing for the second and third line, use the options after // on each line.

Thats just a bit further down where it says motherboard type.

Yes, there are three variables that may need to be changed; if I remember correctly they were: model type, number of extruder's and a fan select.  After reviewing all of them I ended up not changing anything as the defaults appeared to match my setup.

For your printer I am pretty sure it is type 33.

Thanks for responding, the approach I have been taking is to it erase the 0.91 and then re-flash with 0.92.  I realize I did not make this very clear when I said upgrading in my original post.  I am pulling my .bin file off of github and I wonder if that file does not support the LCD on my xyz 1.0.  As I said in my original post the printer appears to be operational the only problem being the screen does not display any characters.  Does anybody out there have a link to Repetier 0.92 firmware that is know to be working on a Da Vinci XYZ 1.0 with the original main board containing the J1 rest pin?

Before you uploaded it to your machine with Adruino, did you click the configuration.h tab and confirm your machine type was selected. That version supports all of the Da Vinci models and you have to select which model you are flashing it to.
