Maybe so. Not sure, but I can say for definite that mine doesn't cause issues. I've done long prints and large prints which pretty much cover the bed, so have used full extruder movement and all printed with no tangles or twists.

The only significant difference between your solution and my old one is the fact that yours doesn't feed through the top of the lid, and that may have been the issue.

I have a different solution, and I'd be happy to modify it to fit your preferred spools if you'd like. This spool holder mounts to the side of my printer using velcro. I also made a custom "lid prop" to vent the lid and allow the filament to enter.

I explained everything in more detail in this thread:
http://www.soliforum.com/topic/10607/fi … and-snaps/

Having bought a load of non-Solidoodle reels of filament, I wanted a spool holder which would allow me to use them with my Press. I looked through other people's designs, but nothing quite fitted my needs. I didn't want the footprint to increase, so a spool holder that sat on the side of the Press or on the table next to it was not ideal, but I also wanted to print with the lid open, so the one on Thingiverse which stands inside the Press' spool holder was not great for me either.

So I decided to do my own. It mounts through the hole in the top of the Press for the filament to go through. The rod has a screw thread printed alongside it. When pushed through the hole, a screw cap sits on the other side and screws onto that thread, securing the rod through the lid. The lid is then propped open with the prop item (printed lying down at 45 degrees to fit on the bed).

Just thought I would share it, in case anyone else wants to use it. I used a 40% infill to make sure it was sturdy enough.

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:754193
