For me at least, uneven prints like that are all related to trim pots. Adjusting them with a multimeter while the machine is plugged in and on, improved the quality ten fold. (This is mainly because the trim pots were way off)

See this video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJu_BaB … freload=10

I find with mine even on 240 it gives noticeably lower quality prints. I have mine on 250. I think it's something to do with the thermistor or the hot end or something, but I think the press sensor over-reads. Not sure, but where other printers work with ABS around 210-215, my Press just doesn't. Also, if you look on the Sd website, they talk about 215 or so for all their printers except the Press, which is listed as around 250. Admittedly, that's the same web page that also gives a recommended temp for PLA though, so not sure how much you can believe that!

However, that aside, I find that anything below 245 creates quality issues.

Hi all,

Just recently got my printer up and running again after a little over two months of back-and-forth with Solidoodle support, and I've also recently migrated to Repetier after finding that the latest SolidPrint has problems properly loading some of my calibration models.

To the left is a test print I did way back in January, before I had to send my printer back to the shop. Aside from some problems with the top layers, it's a pretty nice print with clean, straight edges and smooth surfaces.

To the right is the best I can get after fiddling with the printer tonight for at least four hours. Thing looks like its melting.

Here are my current settings, mostly lifted from the default settings on SolidPrint back when I made that first print. I've tried tweaking the extrusion multipliers, the temperatures, and the speed of the print, and nothing seems to be getting me anywhere. What am I doing wrong?
