			<description><![CDATA[<p>Thank you, and wardjr, for your patience with this dumb newbie... <img src="https://www.soliforum.com/img/smilies/tongue.png" width="15" height="15" alt="tongue" /></p><p>and yeah - don&#039;t question, just do it step by step the first time and avoid the headaches... </p><p>on the RH printer shape settings, tho - honestly - I did not change those at any time - the only numbers i changed were in the first printer settings screen for the park positions.. </p><p>either way - it is working now. extruder is heating properly, and moving in the correct direction, so i must have gotten those right lol</p><p>about to load up some abs and see about printing the Rumba case &amp; fan cover so I dont fry my new toy. </p><p>once all of that is done, can anyone point me in the right direction for hooking up an LCD/SD card reader?got the RepRapDiscount smart controller to add to this thing... <img src="https://www.soliforum.com/img/smilies/big_smile.png" width="15" height="15" alt="big_smile" /></p>]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>I think this thread serves as a nice reminder of how important it is to follow directions to their fullest extent the first time through any procedure you do not understand. To learn you sometimes have to take things on faith when the person who is helping you has been down that road before. When explanation for steps is not provided it usually reveals itself in carrying out the steps. The issues you encountered all stem from a deviation in the instructions freely given to you. Wardjr helped me through this process quite some time ago and none of this confusion ever occurred. <img src="https://www.soliforum.com/img/smilies/wink.png" width="15" height="15" alt="wink" /> </p><p>Also if you notice all Solidoodle printers home at maximum for X and Y and minimum for Z, so you did change that at some point as well <img src="https://www.soliforum.com/img/smilies/wink.png" width="15" height="15" alt="wink" /><br /><a href="http://wiki.solidoodle.com/repetier-host-printer-configuration-windows">http://wiki.solidoodle.com/repetier-hos … on-windows</a></p><p>Glad you are up and running</p>]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>ok, downloaded a fresh copy of the marlin file from the link that wardjr had provided me and did the following</p><p>verified board settings:</p><p>Tools &gt; Board &gt; Arduino Mega or Mega 2560<br />Tools &gt; Processor &gt; ATMEGA2560 (Mega 2560)</p><p>opened the configuration.h file and did the following:</p><p>line 22: #define SOLIDOODLE_VERSION 3<br />line 35: #define BAUDRATE 115200 (cant get 250000 on the computer used for this, changed to match up)<br />line 86: #define MOTHERBOARD 80</p><p>nothing else touched in configuration.h</p><p>opened configuration_ADV.h and did the following:</p><p>line 64: #define CONTROLLERFAN_PIN 8</p><p>nothing else changed</p><p>saved and verified/compiled<br />uploaded to the board<br />opened RH and connected<br />verified that all axes will move in correct direction manually without homing - check...<br />homed all axes - check</p><p>X &amp; Y axes will <strong>not</strong> move after homing<br />Z will move after homing</p><p>extra jumpers from unused steppers are installed in the X-, Y- and Z+ locations</p><p>all axes homed M119 reports:<br />13:47:49.890 : Reporting endstop status<br />13:47:49.890 : x_min: open<br />13:47:49.890 : x_max: TRIGGERED<br />13:47:49.890 : y_min: open<br />13:47:49.906 : y_max: TRIGGERED<br />13:47:49.906 : z_min: TRIGGERED<br />13:47:49.906 : z_max: open<br />13:47:49.906 : ok</p><p>no axes homed, M119 reports:<br />13:51:17.906 : Reporting endstop status<br />13:51:17.906 : x_min: open<br />13:51:17.906 : x_max: open<br />13:51:17.906 : y_min: open<br />13:51:17.906 : y_max: open<br />13:51:17.906 : z_min: open<br />13:51:17.906 : z_max: open<br />13:51:17.906 : ok</p><p>at a loss here - the only things changed are the things listed - I touched nothing else!</p>]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>That&#039;s your problem is you shouldn&#039;t have changed pins.h; there&#039;s an associated flag that should be changed to disable them but IMHO jumping the headers is far easier because you&#039;ll never have to remember how to make the&nbsp; endstops work if you lose your copy of the firmware.</p>]]></description>

I changed none of it. <br />I did accidentally delete the &quot;0&quot; for #define SERIAL_PORT line, but that was easily remedied - wardjr can confirm that one.<br />wardjr provided me with a checklist of what to do/change via pm, and i followed it to the letter, with the exception of the pins.h settings...</p><p>the only thing done in the pins.h file was disabling the unused end stop positions per the post i referred to earlier, and i did pretty much exactly what that poster had done - set it to -1 and commented behind with the default number using the //.</p><p>on your recommendations, i made the change in the configuration_ADV.h file for the fan pin to get the fans going...</p><p>since there are no 1/32 steppers, i should not need to change any of the steps/mm...</p><p>I am not trying to be an a$$ here, just trying to understand....</p><p>going to re-download the marlin file and try again....</p>]]></description>
