I have a similar problem.
It can be a bad wire problem.
depending of the position of the extruder on the bed, your extruder cables comes to a different position and if the wire is broken from inside it would not extrude or just goes back and forth, makes noise but nothing comes out.
try to position your extruder in the middle of the print area, lower the bed and extrude as wardy said. If it works, try different areas on the bed and make sure it works in every position of the cables

drop the bed about 30mm - if you click on the manual extrude button in RH, does it do anything? dont click just 1mm - hit at least 10mm - 50mm would be better...

also, what type of printer?
what type of filament? ABS? PLA? something else?
what temperature are you setting at?

you can also toggle the log on - it will show at the bottom in RH - it may tell you something about what is happening - a message like "cold extrusion prevented" or something along those lines.

Shouldn't really affect much. I'd look at the level of the bed more than anything and then thr extrusion speeds

LabQuestion wrote:

Hey guys, my Extruder seems to work fine when I load my filament into it and push it through however when I try to actually print an object it does not extrude. It is heating up fine and the plate is perfectly level, however the fan on my Extruder (or heating block) is missing two screws, can a loose fitting fan be the cause of the lack of extrusion (spelling?!) ? Thanks everyone! The loose fan also makes a terrible noise.
