@ valguerra

The 1.1 Plus does not have a scanner. It is simply an improved version of the 1.0.

It is supposed to be able to run PLA though

edit: The release pictures aren't that clear but it looks like they completely redesigned the print bed and it appears that the calibration screws are at each corner now.

Unless you have slop in your Z axis, those numbers should be very attainable. I did a calculation using the reprap calculator and found that I could pull this off just fine, each layer change would require 8 steps. I'm not saying it would be easy 0.025mm layers would deposit so little material that you would need to print quickly, and you would also need a very accurate extruder with your extrusion multiplier dialed in absurdly well.

As far as the hardware goes, it is very capable. Companies like to boast about their Z axis resolution, but really, the Z axis is the LEAST frustrating axis to deal with as far as precision goes, especially on Ultimaker-style machines like the Solidoodle and Da Vinci, where the Y axis poses the most headaches. Simply put, threaded rods are precise and if you handle the slop, they can do these resolutions quite well. A dirt cheap stepper may be the weakest link on most machines, if you check out the datasheets.
