Workbench Probe Instructions

On the Workbench, the Z limit switch is no longer located on the back of the machine attached to the platform as compared to our older models. It now attached to a Probe that is located to the right of your extruder. Below are the instructions on how to properly use that Probe to set your Z offset and employ SoliTouch Technology

Manually lower you print bed. Push down the Probe located on the right of your extruder. You will see a limit switch connected to the tip of the probe. The limit switch will not have a metal level, like the other limit switches on the machine. It will just have a red button. That button touches the print bed during auto calibration, setting Z offset, and Before your print. This is what tells the bed not to keep raising. Once you have lowered the print bed and probe, go into Manual Control and in the G-code command box, type M851. A value for your Z offset will be shown in the toggle log.

For auto calibration, lower your print bed, lower your probe then go to Manual Control and in the G-code command box, type G29. After you run the G29 command, simply begin your print. If you home your axis's, your printer will lose the values for auto calibration.

Always be sure to lower your print bed enough to give the probe enough space, when it is lowered, so that it does not hit the print bed. When you are trying to check/set Z offset, auto calibrate, or before you print.

Sounds like it's hitting the nozzle before it hits the z probe switch - make sure that your start g-code is homing the axes correctly, the z limit switch is correctly located, and this switch is working / engaging correctly (http://wiki.solidoodle.com/fixing-your-limit-switches).
