I am aware that heated build chambers will prevent warping, however an ABS print bed should prevent warping in the same way that old style rafts did. It does take quite a bit of work to remov the prints from the ABS. printbed in the comercial printer.

Commercial printers are indirectly still heating the bed.  Without the ABS being hot I think you will have some problems.

I've solved most my warping problems by hairspray + brim if really needed + good print design (some models need supports in certain areas to transfer the warping stress away.)  Hairspray+ kapton should be pretty killer. If anything, I often have a bigger problem removing prints than warping prints.

@cmetzel ABS should stick but not bond well to cold ABS so it should be reletivlely easy to shear the print off. I may also use a lower first layer extrude temperature if it ends up sticking too well.

Hey tetrishead, I assume you are going to use the sheets as part of the printing or are you going to try to remove the abs sheet after the print... probably not...  also I figured you meant 'non warped prints' If the former I would think it would work hard to say if it will still warp or not as I haven't tried this exactly but now that you posted the idea I will probably give it a go

your are probably going to have problems getting the plastic to stick to cold ABS

Has anyone tried this before? I ordered some sheets of 1/8" thisk ABS sheets and am going to try atatching them to the printbed with binder clips. My hope is that it will be able to do large easily warped prints without heating the bed.

you would be better off using the heated bed and laying down abs glue.
