If you don't, slic3r will print a .4*1.05 = 0.42mm perimeter as 1.05 is its default nozzle diameter multiplier for external perimeters, if left at 0.

So now I have done a bit of calibration, the extruder, extrudes 100mm when asked for it and my thin wall thickness hovers around .47/.48

I still seem to be having the same problem with the layers not meeting each other in the thickness of the cube. You can see this looking from the top open end as can be seen in the original pictures (first picture). Is there an adjustment/calibration for this? What is my next step to get it dialed in?

I'm using RH/Slic3r
Layer height 0.3
Filament width 1.73
Extrusion multiplier .89
Octave PLA
215 hotend
95 bed

Many thanks for all your assistance, this is one great community!

Looking good but a proper calibration cube is a single perimeter. It is the only way to properly set the extrusion multiplier. The very first thing to calibrate would be steps per mm for your extruder. 100mm's called for = 100mm's pulled into the extruder. Then adjust the multiplier till you get a single wall thickness of .48.
Don't wait to adjust the VREF it is easy to do and will have a very positive result.

Hello All

Well, after changing the hairspray I used I was able to complete Z Calibration and immediately printed a cube to see what the score was, this is what I got

I was quite pleased with the result for a VERY first print, but would like some feedback from some pro's. I'm ware of the moire and I know what I need to do to get rid of it, however it seems my layers looking from the top are seperated, what causes this? and how do I fix it. Also there seems to be 'tiny' gaps between the indents of the moire, is this related?

I was quite pleased with the sizing, this is printed using soliprint v1.1.1 with 215 degree hot end and 93 degree bed at 300 micron using default everything else. The size was measured with calipers at 25mm square +/- 0.5mm. I was quite please with that or should I be expecting 25mm dead at 0.3?

Thanks for any help
