But if all you want is to run your printer without your PC, you could get an old tablet (cheaply off craigslist or ebay) and install the G-code printr app.  This is one of the ways I run my printer and I am extremely happy with it.  It should takes just a few minutes to setup and then you have a full tablet screen to control your printer instead of just a small LCD.

I have a ramps all programmed for an lcd screen with marlin firmware, but that's going on my prusia i3 build. so, is there no way to do this? (Im not sure if this helps but its not a smart lcd so the program is a little smaller)

After having read that post, I was left with the impression that it would be FAR easier to just upgrade to a RAMPS or RUMBA board that is ready to go with an LCD controller.  Sure its more expensive but there are other benefits too and time is money as well.

I have been printing with the solidoodle for a few years now and I want to be able to disconnect my printer from my computer, because I have had failed prints before due to computer interruptions.

I was wondering what I have to do before I install and run this lcd controller, do I need to reprogram the board, if so, how? Or is it just plug and play?
