Enjoy those E3D's, will be a bit of fun installing and getting them going, but if you search a bit on the web (and the E3D website) you'll find plenty of detailed instructions on how it's done.

Make sure you update the firmware to use thermistor table 5 and set the maximum hot end temp to at least 300C for both extruders. Enjoy!

Please anyone correct me if they feel they have a more tenable solution for navi.

* I've downloaded the solidoodle workbench firmware, and it uses R-T curve 1 (for EPCOS 100k NTC thermistors with a 4.7k pullup) for both extruders. So whatever you get should match this, regardless of what solidoodle actually used, right?
* You can type "EPCOS 100k NTC thermistor" into google, and get many possible links to buy a suitable thermistor, i.e. https://www.google.com/search?q=epcos+1 … thermistor.

I think as a replacement you could buy any of the following:

This is the standard thermistor type for reprap printers, so there's plenty of them out there marketed as "reprap thermistor" - most should be pretty acceptable. This should be good enough to get you going again, I hope it's of help.

I can't say for certain if they did, but if you got a spare sd2 thermistor from AZERATE I know how to make it work in the firmware. I sincerely doubt they changed the thermistor, however.

The Workbench models use the same Solidoodle motherboard as previous models with the addition of a daughterboard on top to accommodate the extra extruder motor, heater, and thermistor.

If you buy a slightly different type, the resistance:temperature curve can be a bit different, so you'll need to make a very small firmware change so the printer uses the right table. This then involves learning to configure and flash the firmware. While it's a good thing to be able to do, there are some confusing steps, so if we can avoid it it might save you a few headaches!
