Hi all,

New member here.

I purchased an XYZ Nobel Superfine Resin printer recently, BEFORE i learned that the resin is proprietary.

The info for this printer is surprisingly sparse out there (should have been a red flag but i was just too excited to get my first resin), but from what im reading (someone pls correct me if im wrong), at some point they put out firmware with OPEN TAG tech that will supposedly let you use any resin. Is that correct?

Thinking this was the answer to my prayers, i went to the XYZ website and while i see a version of firmware from 2023, it is listed on their site as NA and i am unable to download it.

Can anyone help? I've searched other forums and FB groups, and all i hit are dead ends, and im kind of desperate and starting to think i bought a printer that i really cant use.

Anyone who can offer any help is greatly appreciated!

XYZ Da Vinci Pro EVO: Got it for free, already a headache

My after-school program recently acquired two XYZ Da Vinci Pro EVO 3D printers. These were given away to us after some simple training. My boss and I were very excited to have some seemingly user-friendly printers with built-in bed leveling. It took less than a week to become a pain.

First problem: Only one of the printers even works so far. Both turn on, but one immediately says there is a firmware issue and needs help from support (turning it off/on does not resolve it). Support responded over the weekend to point me to the XYZ website where the links for firmware updates no longer work. Waiting to see if the respond to that.

Second: XYZ Print 3 suddenly stopped working over the weekend. This printer only works with .3cp files, which only come from this particular slicer (as far as I can find). I printed several small projects last friday with no issue. Today, for no apparent reason, every time I try to save my sliced files I get a "-22 Error". Then the slicer crashes. So no saving files to print on USB for convenience.

Third: Even with problem-the-second, I can just move my laptop to the printer and plug it in for a print. Less convenient due to my room setup, but whatever. The brand new problem is that the printer ignores the actual project I have loaded onto XYZ Print 3 and just prints the previous project all over again, which baffles me since it was done from a USB that is no longer plugged in. Restarting the printer and laptop has not solved the problem at all.

After looking around and hearing so many awful reports about XYZ products, I won't be surprised if there isn't any hope for these. I was really excited to expand our STEM program to include 3D modeling for our youths, like with TinkerCAD. If anyone knows any way to help, I greatly appreciate it.

Finally I just got the need to print something on my 3d printer in about 1 year and the last 12 hours have been downhill..

I have had my printer set up on my pc before and it worked fine, but when I powered it on today I get the "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) A request for the USB device descriptor failed.", and i'm like is my cable broken or something. Tried multiple cables and some of them did not even want to register on my pc. Tried other pcs with windows 11 and 7 but still the faulty usb message.

I even checked the internal SD card to see if that had been corrupted which it did not appear to be. I then let it sit plugged in while I searched for a solution and then my PC played the USB disconnect sound and the LCD showed only black squares. I can see that is when the firmware is corrupted correct?

So I would like to know what my options is. I don't have a J-link but have ST-link v2 if that can be used for anything. As I can read it the J-link is for dumping only, and for the a programmer to work the USB need to work right?.

The main board is 3f1aw wifi engine w5.

The machine is old and I know that it probably not financially wise to try to get a new mainboard, I just want to know if its possible to review it or something. If the USB controller is dead, is there a way to communicate with the Athelm chip via a arduino or ISP?

Hi,

New to the forum and I am enquiring for our DT department here at rhe
college I work at.

We have two XYZ filament printers and we have constant issues with the Ender
self adhesive bed layer coming adrift, peeling and curling and generally just
not wanting to stay adhered to the aluminium base of the platform.

We clean the aluminium thoroughly, have tried sticking them down whilst
both hot AND cold. Sometimes they stay put and we get a few successfull
print jobs. In fact every job is successful with a good stuck down bed.

I guess bulldog clips or some kind of plastic U section but I would see these as a
sketchy work around...

We would appreciate any thoughts or input?!

Thanks.... Trev

Can't push filament through guide tube

Hello guys, hope somebody could help me here.

I tried to load a filament into my DaVinci 1.0A as usuall, but this time I didn't work. I disassembled the nozzle to check what's going on inside and I noticed that filament is stuck in white plastic guide tube and I can't push it further to reach gears.
I can't push filament through this metal element at the end of guide tube that is marked red. I tried with different filaments by using different angles, I cut filament's end so that it ends sharp. Nothing has helped.

I wanted to check if nothing blocks this metal element, so I tried to push my filament in opposite way, "from bottom to top" and... it worked - I was able to do that. I experimented a bit and tried to push my filament "normal way" by following the filament pushed "opposite way" but I was not able to do that - something stops filament going through it.
It seems to me that this metal element is "stupid" - it is not wired with any microcontroller or something that can decide if it is open or closed, so I can't really understand why there is this "one way problem".
Do you have any idea what could I do to "force push" and load filament?

Hello,

I have a Da Vinci Jr 1.0. I am not an expert by any means, so please excuse me if I am using the wrong terms. I was cleaning out the extruder and snapped the port where the hot end plugs into the extruder pcb. My only advice was to try to reconnect it with thermal glue - I tried, even after 24 hours the glue hasn't "cured."

Printer still turns on, and can start processes. When I go to "clean nozzle," it tries heating up and then gives me an 0014 error.

Is there anything I can do to fix this, without it becoming a huge project? I just need this thing to work to finish a project with my 3rd graders. I can't find an exact replacement board. Is there a pcb that I can use with some kind of 12 pin converter? Can I direct connect the 3 plugs from the extruder to the motherboard? An extruder that I can purchase that has it's own pcb that will somewhat fit with the jr?

I appreciate any help.

Hello, I converted my DaVinci JR to an e3d v6 and moved the board off of the hotend. Unfortunately the connector for the heater had a death grip on the heater and I broke it off. I re-soldered it to the pads but after an hour or so my hotend temp drops and causes the print to fail every time.

Reading the forum here, I would note that I am using a non-XYZ thermisitor connected to the extruder board which may cause abnormal readings? Looks like I need to wire the thermistor into the main board instead? Is there any good write-up for this?

Thank you for your time.
-Okstate

[EDIT 1] Note, I have a Davinci Jr 3 in 1 version. I stripped out the scanning array and put all the NFC tag equipment in a 3d printed box. I will pop the board open and see what I can see.

[EDIT 2] I guess what I am confused about is, can I bypass the extruder pcb for the thermistor and wire into the main board and get better readings? Or, do I need to flash my firmware? Or both? As is the temps are jumping all over the place and are not holding over time.
