Are you sure the extruder motor is not working. The extruder gear was loose on mine and the shift just turned on the inside. Remove the clear cover that's over extruder. If the hotend is hot extrude 10 or 50mm of filament and watch to see if the "D" shape shift is moving. There are some instructions of the Solidoodle site on how to tighten it.

If the shift still does not move remove the filament and try again. If it moves, you may have a clog. Both of these things happen to me on my first print, within 20 mins of use the printer.

I've tried reading through all the threads on the issue with extruders not working. It seems like a faulty cable or contact was to blame in a lot of cases.

Our extruder stopped working after about 20 minutes of us trying to make our first print, and then the printer kept going without extruding any ABS. And since then it hasn't fed any ABS through the extruder. It seems like the motor that feeds the ABS is not moving at all.

We used a multimeter to check that all the 4 small cables going from the motherboard to the extruder were intact.

Anyone else had a similar issue? Any suggestions what else we could check?
