<![CDATA[SoliForum - 3D Printing Community — LCD question]]> 2013-01-09T16:45:01Z PunBB https://www.soliforum.com/topic/974/lcd-question/ <![CDATA[Re: LCD question]]> The SD is really easy by itself, you only need to add one pair of headers.  I use it for long prints since it's more reliable and I would be more mad about ruining a 5 hour print that a 90 minute print.  I'm getting a Viki mostly because it's cool and easier to travel to a meetup.   I don't see how it could compare to a laptop for convenience.  Also the laptop plays Pandora and reads Soliforum.

I use my old one with a cracked screen, and I access it remotely with logmein.com.

Technically, an SD card might be SLIGHTLY better in terms of data transmission...but repetier has never really had USB speed problems for me.

The viki is 9/10 assembled. And probably easier to install.

The hardest aspect id say is soldering headers and the new chip. Either way you go you will need to do this.
